5 days to go to the big one

I’m really excited. Despite missing a week and a half of training and debating whether to continue, here it is – big taper week and 5 more days to go. I could have backed out. To be honest, I nearly did. I had hoped to be more prepared, but having decided its now or never, I’m really looking forward to it. As I lay in bed yesterday (Monday’s = rest day) and scrolled through the Waterfront Marathon website, I actually got goose bumps and imagined I would probably sob my way through the first 5km from the emotion of it all – and if I’m lucky enough to get that far – the last 5km too! So here we are, a week with time on my hands (as running is minimal), carbs on my mind (gotta get that balance right) and lots of sleep and hydration to squeeze in. Do I need one more visit to Lululemon to make sure I have “the right” outfit?! Possibly. For all of you out there who are competing in this coming weekends 5km, half or marathon races, be it your first or one of many – GOOD LUCK. You can do it! Enjoy every minute.

Officially: Wellness Manager at UHN; background - Physiotherapy (what a portable profession that turned out to be!). Outside of work I'm a student (part-time U of T), mom of 2 teenagers (super, super scary) and wanna-be marathon runner with a first marathon goal date of October 16, 2011. Likes: FOOD, food and food (the real reason that I run), getting outdoors, seeing new places, G n T's and newly discovered carb-loaded gel packs that enable one to keep on running...What else? Arrived from UK 20 years ago to work in Canada for a year and still not visited Italy.
