National Volunteer Week

Volunteer Week
This week is National Volunteer Week. The purpose of this week is to recognize volunteers across Canada who give of themselves to better their communities and the lives of others.

Volunteers at University Health Network are a fundamental part of our diverse community and certainly “cast a beautiful shadow”!

Our volunteer population mirrors our community and is made up of students, retirees, foreign-trained professionals, and people in career transition. All offer their time and unique skills and talents. In successful partnerships with staff, volunteers assist patients, families and visitors in clinics, administrative offices, in-patient units, waiting rooms, and information desks, thereby supporting UHN’s approach to Patient-Centred Care.

During the course of this week we ask staff to take a moment to thank UHN volunteers for their outstanding contributions. Please visit the Human Resources Page on the Intranet to nominate someone for a Star (http://intranet.uhn.ca/departments/patient_relations/) or send an Recognition e-Card (http://intranet.uhn.ca/departments/human_resources/)
