Mental illness is prevalent in Canada. One in five Canadians will experience mental health problems at some point in their life. Did you know that only one-third of individuals living with a mental illness seek help? The remaining two-thirds do not seek help due to stigma and fear of being labelled.

Stigma is negative attitudes about people living with mental illness. Stigma can often be more disabling than the mental health problem itself. We can help those living with mental illness by putting an end to the stigma associated with mental health problems.

Wednesday, January 27th is Bell Let’s Talk Day. Bell Let’s Talk Day encourages Canadians to talk about mental health problems as “talking is the best way to start breaking down the barriers associated with mental illness.”

On January 27th, for every text, phone call, tweet using the #BellLetsTalk or share of a Facebook photo, Bell will donate 5¢ towards mental health initiatives. Join the conversation and help fight stigma surrounding mental illness!
